Jerusalem O Jerusalem

Jesus said that in the last days, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” Luke 21:10-11.  He also predicted the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple which occurred in AD 70 at the hands of the Romans.  He added, “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” Luke 21:24.   The Fig tree has long been a symbol for the nation of Israel and Jesus told his disciples a parable, “Look at the fig tree and all the trees.  When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.  Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.  Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Luke 21:33.

Israel became a nation again in 1948 and Jerusalem’s days of being trampled on by the Gentiles ended.  The events unfolding in the world today remind us that the hour is late.  We are living in the end times before God will pour his wrath out onto the inhabitants of the world.  The middle east today remains a hotbed of diverging nations bent upon conflict with Israel, who is at center stage.  Iran continues to supply Hezbollah with weapons by flying them into Damascus and Israel is now bombing the Damascus airport when these weapons arrive.  Damascus is still devastated from the Syrian civil war and will be reduced to rubble before this is over in fulfillment of Isaiah 17.

Perhaps the most critical issue to be resolved in Jerusalem as we near the advent of the Great Tribulation is the Temple Mount, which is the most sacred piece of real estate on earth, chosen by God (Psalm 132:13-14) to dwell among his people.  The end times temple is a necessity for the fulfillment of Revelation 11:1-2 in order for the antichrist to set up the abomination of desolation (Daniel 11:31, Daniel 12:11, Mathew 24:15-16, Revelation 13:14-15) and will be a physical building and not a spiritual temple.  The seven year Israel peace accord will facilitate the building of the third temple and Jerusalem will become the focal point of the last days.  “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding people reeling.  Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem.” Zechariah 12:2.

As we witness the rockets fly from Gaza into Israel and Israel’s retaliation, world leaders call for peace.  The Palestinian rockets, with little to no navigation capabilities, are being fired from launchers imbedded next to hospitals and schools, yet it is Israel who bares the brunt of the criticism for civilian casualties.  The UN and the global media have maintained a twisted, nefarious and purposefully deceptive propaganda, opposed to Israel, which they promote and spread across the world, painting Israel with negative brush strokes even though the Palestinians initiated the rocket fire.

The press portrays Hamas as demanding justice for the eviction of Palestinian residents in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, claiming these were generations deep home owners.  In reality, the Jewish plaintiffs’ legal chain of title is documented back to 1875 and was illegally confiscated when Jordan invaded Israel in 1948, occupying half of Jerusalem and expelling Jewish inhabitants and seizing their property. Furthermore, Hamas is not an elected governing body over Gaza and is nothing more than a terrorist proxy of Iran, with no right whatsoever to bomb the sovereign state of Israel. And Israel is completely within their rights to defend themselves and eliminate the threat. Yet the world is told Israel is the villain and Hamas is the innocent victim. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In 1967, when Israel reunited Jerusalem, the Jewish courts respected the new titles, despite the fact they were illegitimately procured through force.  As with much of the land that Israel reclaimed after the 1967 conflict, such as the west bank, Israel remains unfairly categorized as the aggressor even though they were backed into a corner by Syria, Egypt and Jordan, desperately outnumbered and overpowered yet triumphant in battle.  The UN still does not recognize Israel’s right to the west bank as spoils of war.  Israel remains in the hot seat on the world stage and is proof that biblical prophecy continues to come true.

The Christian Church was not meant to go astray after the first century, however when emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman empire, the significance of the seventieth week of Daniel’s prophecy of the seventy sevens began to take shape.  Down through the ages, through the unforced errors of the Catholic church, precipitating the reformation with the likes of Martin Luther, all the way to today’s 30,000 Christian denominations, the Christian Church has allowed itself to be persuaded by human reason to wander off God’s path.

This all happened so that the prophesies regarding Israel in the last days could be fulfilled in due time, coinciding with the Jewish diaspora and so evil would develop to its fullness and thereby give rise to the man of lawlessness in his appointed time.  Jerusalem was trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles were fulfilled and it is now time for the final culmination of God’s plan.

Israel is once again at center stage as the world watches and international leaders call for peace.  And peace will come in the form of a seven – year covenant that was foretold by Daniel nearly 600 years before Christ. A peace accord that will permit the building of the third Jewish temple in Jerusalem, facilitated by what many will hail to be the savior of the world. “He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the Temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.” Daniel 9:27.

The wrath of God will soon descend from heaven against all godlessness; onto a lawless generation that suppresses the truth by their wickedness; and onto the man of lawlessness prophesied by Daniel, Jesus and the apostle Paul (Daniel 9:27, Mathew 24:15, 2 Thessalonians 2:3). Justice is indeed coming. Jesus is indeed coming. Soon. He who has an ear, let him hear.
